the first day of spring

Yay! Spring is finally, officially here. We started a new tradition for the first day of spring by heading to our local garden (ours is a rhododendron garden) to see what is blooming and feed the ducks. As soon as we got there, U took off running and was full of excitement. He is at such a good age for going on adventures, and I find it really helps the crazy 4 year old boy energy dissipate.

Everything was starting to bloom: rhododendrons, red flowering currants, daffodils, grape hyacinths, camellias, and the japanese magnolia. The sun was shining and the wind was blowing, and we had a little bit of time just the two of us. I am always glad once we are out and we always have so much fun together. I think we will stop by the garden throughout the season and see how things change.

We did have a few (mis) adventures while we were there. The ducks (and geese) were a little too hungry and we almost got attacked by a goose! It was a little scary, but certainly exhilarating! Next time I think we will skip the duck food. And on the way out U slipped on some rocks and fell in the water. Luckily, I had a change of clothes in the car; so all was well.
